More information on our second Art Therapy session:
The art therapy workshop started with a speedy yet comprehensive background to art therapy, what it is, who it is for and how it works.
"The art therapy workshop started with a speedy yet comprehensive background to art therapy, what it is, who it is for and how it works. We were all invited to use the array of art materials to make an image of a bridge. This could be real or imagined, symbolic, abstract or schematic. The bridge metaphor was an invitation to consider the themes of transition and connection. Many of the students were international students and their images evoked memories of home countries, finding their way around the UK, the theme of no borders or boundaries and many utilised old maps as part of their collage work. On reflecting on the images together we discussed how the artworks all expressed something of our internal worlds of thoughts and feelings. This process helped us think further about how we can polarise and separate or we can connect and unite"
